Five important things players need to do in Battlefield 3

Battlefield
Good afternoon blog readers, as in my last post, you will know I've been playing a lot of Battlefield 3. Although the multiplayer is an amazing experience, I have noticed that there are a LOT of Call of Duty players that have migrated over to this master experience of online warfare. Xbox Live has been full of Rambo player's, players that have been running around with their rifles, not working within the team ethics and just doing what the hell they want. This is NOT, I repeat NOT how you play a Battlefield mulitplayer session. I have thought long and hard about this, and have come up with 5 useful tips that I would recommend people read and take under advisement.

Tip number 1: Squad up, it's simple really, not only do you get more points for working closely with your 4 man squad/platoon, you will also find yourself being saved and you saving the virtual lives of your platoon members on a fairly reoccuring basis.

Tip number 2: Communicate, the basis of human civilisation has been built on communication. It is not hard to speak and spot where enemy tanks, soldiers and aircraft. You can push the back button and this will highlight the enemies to the whole of your side, you never know it may save your life.

Tip number 3: Share the wealth when it comes to your support packs. Health and ammo are a great commodity within Battlefield 3. As soon as you spawn drop a medkit or an ammo pouch, your squad mates may be in desperate need of some rounds or a bandaid, you just need to remember to do this.

Tip number 4: Look at your squad mates, or speak to them and see what load outs they are operating. Mix and match is the key to success. The ideal squad set up that I have worked within is:

  • 2x Assault class (Call me doc)
  • 1x Engineer class (anti tank/anti air)
  • 1x Support class (The ammo man)

This combination works well because of the following reasons, if you have an experienced assault guy, the 4x ACOG scope plus the M16A3/A4 with a bi-pod is a great sniper rifle, and allows for covering fire over the larger, more open maps. Now with your other assault guy/girl, you need to make sure the rifle is equipped with either a RDS or Reflex site for close combat support. The Engineer class can switch between anti-tank and anti-aircraft and providing great cover against the heavier weaponary such as tanks, helicopters and jets. The support class should carry a bi-podded light machine gun with either a 3.4x scope or a ACOG scope, so that long range surpression can be given as the rest of your team move up on a target.

Tip number 5: Remember that the environment is destructible, if you can't shoot some one in direct line of sight, light the enemy up so that your squad mates can see him/her. Then pull a frag grenade out and toss it in the general direction of the embedded enemy, you could also ask the engineer class, who if equipped with anti-tank rockets, could fire a SMAW rocket into the area of the enemy, remember if you fire it at the building above the enemy, the masonary will fall onto your enemy thus crushing him/her and terminating their virtual life.

So I hope some of you players take notice of this, and try and work a little bit harder to achieve the common goal. If you want to play run and gun, I suggest popping over to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which has now been globally released.
